Northallerton 3rd team entertained a sizeable and well drilled Whitby team at home and fell to a 15-48 defeat. North were slightly instrumental in their own downfall by loaning Whitby with 2 of their own players! North still put in an admirable performance, which was reinforced by the returning ‘Smiler’ Logan from injury. North also have a prospective star of the future in John Henry who scored two first-class tries. Try of the day however was awarded, when after a jinking 80 yard run from newcomer Scott Goodrum, he was tackled just short of the line before support came in the spritely form of Stu McLean who picked the ball up one handed and carried on the remaining 15 yards to score. North nearly added two more tries, firstly, the mighty Evo was held up just short of the line. Secondly Dave Baker went over the try line, but in a silly attempt to get closer to the posts, was tackled and dropped the ball! Guess who got 'Dick of the Day'?
Man of the match was awarded to John Henry who just edged out Mike 'Evo' Evans.
Next week North 3rds take the short journey to play York.
