Northallerton 1st team made their third consecutive long distance away trip and suffered a Halloween nightmare at high flying Thornensians. Despite Captain Dixon leading from the front with the forwards, North fell to a convincing 31-6 defeat. Hooker Mike Rhodes was unlucky to have a try disallowed in the first half, and also took 4 scrums ‘against the head’. The home side though were always in control, especially in the backs, where Northallerton had no answer to the Thorne wingers and midfield. North did their own cause no good by constantly attempting to throw the ball out wide without looking, which resulted in two interception tries. Even the introduction of ex-captain Steven ‘the pussycat’ Robinson failed to spark North into life. Dan Luck did however manage to kick two consolation penalties to avoid total humiliation.
