Northallerton 1st team made the long journey to Sheffield Medicals burdened with the usual late cry offs and players unable to travel, resulting in the bare 15 plus one substitute, who was carrying a slight injury. Some people should be ashamed of themselves!!!

North still put in a gallant effort before eventually losing 52-13.

North struggled throughout the game in the backs where Sheffield had the more youthful, faster and better drilled players. To North’s credit they did occasionally put some noteworthy moves together, but found the oppositions defence more than capable to withstand any attacks that North could muster. North’s case wasn’t helped when inside centre Dan Luck sustained a groin injury after 30 minutes and with no backs replacement. Carla Luck was hoping it wasn't anything too serious but said she needed the rest!
Fortunately Northallerton still had their consistent forwards available on who managed to keep the ball for long periods and frustrate Sheffield on quite a few occasions.

Despite North’s stronger forwards the home team still managed to score four first half tries which killed the game off as any kind of competition. North could only muster a Dan Luck penalty and a unconverted try from vice captain Richard Dongsdale to go in at half time 31-8 for the home team.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first with North coping admirably in the forwards before the home team’s superior backs took control. Sheffield scored another 21 points in the second half before North got a late pushover try, with Liam Lincoln claiming the try.
