Northallerton 1st team made their 2nd long away trip of the season to new boys Goole, and again suffered with players away availability which contributed to a 26-5 defeat. There were numerous changes to last weeks team including 3 changes in the last 24 hours, despite this North still put in a spirited and determined effort. North's most noteworthy performances came again from Jonny Baker, and also Rich Lonsdale, with the latter managing to avoid a yellow card for a change! While North were behind from early on, they never gave up, and the opposition never looked too comfortable. With a bit more luck and self belief North could and should have gone over for a couple of tries in the first half. With Captain Paul Dixon leading from the front and supported by the effervescent Lee Peake North continued to defend tenaciously. North went in at half time 7-0 down. However the lack of first half points were to prove North's downfall as Goole increased in confidence in the second half to score three more tries while North's only answer came from a try from roving prop Colin Birtwhistle, but unforetunately that was too little too late.
Next week Northallerton 1st team host Garforth at home which always proves to be a close and fiery encounter.
