This weekend Northallerton played a pre season friendly away against a Middlesbrough select team.
North fielded a mixed team of 1st and 2nd team players in a number of experimental positions.
Although the score seemed one sided in the 35-0 victory to North, in truth, it was a close and competitive game played in extremely good spirit - apart from the stamp on Parks head + Jonny Baker being judo thrown by his neck (must have been a strong bloke!).
Norths tries came from Will Parks (3), Xander Metcalfe, 55 year old Norman Harvie, Liam McCalmont and his 18 year old son Sam Taylor completed the scoring. Surprisingly all conversions by Jonny Baker were missed with the swirling wind being blamed on most of the efforts.
North could have had a couple more tries but fell just short near the line. One of the worst offenders was Captain Jonny Franks who's pass to Liam McCalmont was so far forward Mister Tickle wouldn't have even caught it!!!
A big thank you should be given to Peter Barraclough who forfeited a run out to stand in as a replacement referee at short notice.
Next week Northallerton start their season proper with a home game against Rotherham Phoenix in the Yorkshire Shield, kick off at 3pm.
Lets all get down cheer the lads on + have a beer or 6.
