York Festival

Well what a start for Northallerton U9s at the York festival.
With some angry gray Sky's above us the U9s warmed up in anticipation for their first ever match together, and then it happened ' the heavens opened '. As we huddled together under umbrella's and watched the opening game between York and Harrogate the nerves were starting to show but as responsible adults we didn't let the U9s see this.
And so it was, as the final whistle blew for the end of the first match North U9s took to the field. The green and yellow colours of Northallerton v the blue hoops of Ripon. As the whistle blew North advanced forward with confidence and as the crowd cheered and roared them on they scored their first try. This was soon followed by another. Ripon hit back with a couple of their own but it was not enough as North scored again to claim their first win. I'm not too sure who was smiling the most the U9s or the parents.
Two more matches were to follow against York and Harrogate, and yet again North gave it their all. A late try for York in the last seconds was unfortunate for North as York snuck the win. And do to the last game against Harrogate. Tired and wet North took the game to Harrogate scoring try after try before being pegged back by Harrogate, and after scoring one last try put in tackle after tackle after tackle to stop Harrogate scoring another and going on to win their second game.
With two wins and one defeat I don't think anyone could've asked for more.
All I need to do now is thank all the player I for their efforts on Sunday and for all the parents for their support and hope to see
