"Northallerton Nightmares" play their first game.

On Sunday the 23rd April our newly formed team of ladies attended a festival at Barnsley RUFC which was aimed at new and developing players. The newly named Northallerton Nightmares made their mark in the most spectacular way by scoring the first (Emily Byland) and last (Sarah Walley) try of the festival. The festival format was to encourage all players to mix and join forces with other clubs to play four, ten a side, twenty mins games. The Nightmares joined with newly formed Sandal. This made a formidable team, winning the first game easily, the next games were harder on the girls and contended fiercely. With a hot sunny day and hard ground all players sustained bumps, bruises and scuffs but our Northallerton Ladies still volunteered to play on. The last game of the festival was an allegiance of Northallerton, Sandal and Harrogate against Ripon, Halifax, Barnsley and Bulldogs, in a full 15 a side with ten mins each way, again our Ladies were on the winning side.

Congratulations to Emily Byland for standing out and being awarded team player and receiving a RFU hoodie.

Thank you to Sandal for your hospitality and some great encouragement from your supporters, Hope to see you next season for a full game both home and away.

New players are always welcome, It doesn't matter if you've never touched a rugby ball before! Just pop to the club Thursdays at 1845hrs, see you there.
